Our Founding Story

Born from the struggles we endured and witnessed; Iriip Gaa Group was founded by women who refused to accept the destructive norms of our communities. We grew up in a culture where:

  • Girls were valued only for dowry, not their potential
  • Women's voices were silenced and their rights ignored
  • FGM and gender-based violence were normalized
  • Alcoholism ravaged families and futures
  • These painful realities became our call to action.

We dreamed of a new era where:

  • Village girls would claim their right to education
  • Mothers would be empowered as decision-makers
  • Harmful practices like FGM would be eradicated
  • Women's contributions would be valued and celebrated

Today, that dream has become a movement. Through education, advocacy, and community empowerment, we're rewriting the story for generations to come.

Championing Equity & Inclusion: We advocate for a world where every girl, regardless of background, has access to opportunities, mentorship, and a voice in shaping the future.

Mentorship & Empowerment: Through self-funded programs, we provide girls with the tools, confidence, and networks to thrive in their careers and communities.

Celebrating Legacy: We amplify the stories of Rift Valley’s trailblazing women—past and present—whose resilience and leadership light the path forward.

Over the years, Iriip Gaa Group of Ladies has collaborated with county governments, women representatives, and area MPs to drive transformative change across the Rift Valley.

Through grassroots advocacy and community engagement, we tackle pressing issues affecting girls and women, including:

  • Fighting Harmful Practices: Campaigning against alcoholism, teenage pregnancies, and early marriages through education and empowerment.
  • Promoting Education: Reducing absenteeism in schools by advocating for the value of educating the girl child and supporting access to learning.
  • Breaking the Silence: Encouraging women and girls to speak out against sexual harassment and demand safe spaces.
  • Strengthening Families: Empowering mothers to build homes with strong foundations, fostering resilience and generational progress.

Our partnerships amplify our reach, ensuring our message of dignity, opportunity, and self-determination transforms communities.
